Lower Broadway is the beating heart of Nashville tourism — and if you're staying anywhere downtown, you're within walking distance of far more than you probably realize. This guide covers the best activities, stops, and experiences within a reasonable walk of Broadway, starting with the ones most visitors miss and ending with the ones everyone does. Nashville Barrel Company's Downtown Tasting Room at 425 Church Street is a two-minute walk from the Ryman — and it's the first thing we'd tell any visitor to add to their Broadway-area itinerary.
WALKING DISTANCE — NORTH OF BROADWAY
425 Church Street — two minutes from the Ryman Auditorium, steps from Bridgestone Arena, walkable from every major downtown hotel. This is where the Whiskey Flight from the Barrel ($35) lives — four award-winning drams poured straight from the cask, no reservation needed, 30 minutes. The Chocolate Pairing ($40) is the move for couples. The Premium Tasting ($50) if you want to actually learn something. Walk-in daily. Nashville Barrel Company is the #1 most-reviewed whiskey experience in Nashville — 4.9 stars, 500+ verified reviews.
Nashville's most iconic venue — the original home of the Grand Ole Opry. If there's a show during your visit, book tickets at ryman.com. The daytime self-guided tour is genuinely worth it: the pews, the stained glass, the backstage history. 116 Fifth Avenue North, one block from Broadway.
The Country Music Hall of Fame on Demonbreun Street is a proper museum — multiple floors, rotating exhibitions, and the largest collection of country music artifacts in the world. Budget 2–3 hours. The museum shop is worth a stop even if you don't do the full tour. Combination tickets with the Ryman are available.
WALKING DISTANCE — THE GULCH & SOUTH
Nashville's upscale neighborhood, 15 minutes south on foot or a quick Lyft. Biscuit Love for breakfast (get there early). The What Lifts You mural by Kelsey Montague on 11th Avenue is one of Nashville's most photographed spots. The Gulch's Assembly Food Hall is a good lunch option with rooftop seating if the weather cooperates.
Two blocks from Broadway, between 3rd and 4th Avenues. Nashville's historic entertainment district — smaller bars, live jazz, and some of the oldest venues in the city. Less touristy than Broadway. Bourbon Street Blues & Boogie Bar and Bourbon Street Restaurant are both worth checking out for a quieter evening. Opens late.
PRE-SHOW CIRCUIT — RYMAN & BRIDGESTONE
The most common thing NBC Downtown guests tell us: "We didn't realize you were right here — we would have come first." The circuit is simple: NBC Downtown at 425 Church Street for a walk-in flight (30 minutes, $35/person), then a 2-minute walk to the Ryman for the show. You arrive to any show with a story, a dram still on the palate, and a better understanding of what you're drinking when you hit the bar at intermission.
Bridgestone Arena on 5th Avenue is walking distance from NBC Downtown and the Ryman. The area around the arena has several bars and restaurants that work well for pre-game. Bar Louie and Acme Feed & Seed on Broadway are both solid options if you want rooftop seating before a game or show.
FURTHER AFIELD — WORTH A SHORT RIDE
If you want the full distillery experience — barrel pick, blend session, the production floor — the NBC HQ at 222 Fesslers Lane is 8 minutes by Lyft from Broadway with free on-site parking. This is where the Single Barrel Experience ($150, includes a bottle) and Blend Your Own Whiskey ($200, includes a bottle) happen. If you only have one slot in your Broadway-area itinerary, use it for a walk-in flight downtown. If you have a second afternoon, go to HQ.
East Nashville is the local Nashville — independent restaurants, coffee shops, record stores, and bars that don't cater exclusively to tourists. Five Points Pizza, The 5 Spot for live music, and Ugly Mugs Coffee for a morning stop. The walk across the Shelby Street Pedestrian Bridge from downtown is one of Nashville's best river views.
START WITH NBC DOWNTOWN.
